Many area children will have a brighter Christmas this year, as management and staff of Straub Automotive distributed presents to area children Wednesday as part of the Soup Kitchen of Greater Wheeling’s Gifts for Kidz program.
During the month of November, Straub Automotive used a portion of every oil change sold to buy Christmas gifts for area children who benefit from the soup kitchen’s gift program. Straub employees gave out presents and assisted with serving meals to all the children in attendance.
“We’re very pleased to join the Wheeling soup kitchen’s Gifts for Kidz program to raise money to purchase as many gifts as possible to brighten the Christmas of deserving children throughout the area,” said Straub Manager Bryan Fato. “We also thank our loyal customers for helping us lend a hand to our friends and all the dedicated volunteers at the Wheeling Soup Kitchen who do so much for so many, especially during the holidays.”
Soup kitchen Executive Director Becky Shilling-Rodocker said the gifts will help brighten the holiday for the more than 200 children that visit the soup kitchen on a frequent basis with their families.
“Every child will get a toy to take home tonight, and what’s left over will go into our toy collection upstairs to make sure that all of our children are given a nice Christmas. … This helps immensely,” Shilling-Rodocker said.
